DAVE MCCABE (THE ZUTONS) & IAN SKELLY (THE CORAL) RETURN TO WIGAN TO HEADLINE #WAF2017
March 15, 2017
Dave McCabe shot to fame as the face and voice of The Zutons, the brilliant Liverpool band that breathed fresh, cool vigour into the stale national scene. His vocal tone and delivery coupled with his outstanding song writing ability quickly attracted both critical acclaim and an army of loyal fans. Singles such as “Why Won’t You Give Me Your Love” and “Pressure Point” donned their quirky sound and the single “Valerie” is quite simply known the world over and its brilliance was picked up by legendary producer Mark Ronson who married it with the late, great Amy Winehouse. Dave McCabe is a great singer but equally, a great character and his live shows are unmissable. He headlines Wigan Arts Festival in The Grand Vault on what will be a superb night of tune after tune after tune.
Accompaniment on the night comes from the brilliant Ian Skelly. The multi-instrumentalist from The Coral and more recently Serpent Power is a lifelong friend of Dave McCabe and will add superb percussion
This gig brings back special memories for us at The Old Courts, as we are reliving our first ever gig - "Way way back when we first opened our doors to the public, our first gig was courtesy of Dave and Ian. It was a great night and was unbelievably well attended but we've come such a long way since then and we can't wait to welcome them back. T
his gig sold out in double quick time back in 2014 so we're genuinely advising people to get tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment. We can't wait to host this gig in the infinitely improved venue. It should be a top night and one of many high points in Wigan Arts Festival." - Jonny Davenport
